People in court cases get a lot of paper and very little explanation. A ticket with a date. A notice with a case number. A docket full of abbreviations. Cstrck exists to explain that paper: what each stage of a case means, what usually happens next, and where the official record lives.
Our motto is short on purpose. Know where your case is. Know what happens next.
We write for people with pending cases, family members helping someone through one, self-represented litigants, and anyone trying to read a court record for the first time. Our home base is coastal South Carolina, so you'll see Horry County, Conway, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach and Georgetown County a lot. We also cover federal process in the Fourth Circuit when it applies.

Every explainer starts with a stage of a case, not a headline. We check it against the statute, the court rule, or the court's own website before it goes up, and we link to that source so you can check it too. When something is our opinion, we say so.
We have firm rules. We don't predict outcomes. We don't say a hearing will be continued. We never tell anyone to miss court. We don't publish sealed information, invent docket entries, or treat an arrest as proof of guilt. And we never suggest an article outranks a court order or your attorney's advice.
