This policy explains what information Cstrck ("we," "us") collects when you visit cstrck.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose.

Information we collect

Information you give us. If you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address, subject and message. If you sign up for email updates, the form provider collects your email and any other fields you fill in. Please don't send us case files, sealed documents or anyone else's personal information.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our server keeps standard logs, which can include your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the time of your visit. Analytics and advertising tools described below may also collect device and usage information through cookies.

We don't track the status of anyone's court case, and we don't build profiles of readers based on legal matters.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them for analytics and advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though ads may be less relevant.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how visitors find us. Google may set cookies and process usage data under its own privacy policy. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Advertising (Revive Adserver)

Ads on this site are delivered through Revive Adserver. The ad server may use cookies or similar technology to deliver ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and count impressions and clicks. Advertisers don't receive your contact information from us.

Newsletter form provider

Our email signup form is provided by Sphere CRM. When you submit it, your information is processed by that provider to send you updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.

Headlines from other publishers

Some pages show headlines from other publishers, such as SCOTUSblog and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Our own server fetches these; your browser doesn't contact those sites unless you click a link. Once you leave Cstrck, the other site's privacy policy applies.

How we use information

We use it to answer messages, send the updates you asked for, understand what readers find useful, run and secure the site, and show ads. We don't sell your personal information for money.

Your rights

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to delete it, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.

Visitors in the EU, UK and similar regions (GDPR): you can ask to access, correct, delete or move your data, object to or limit processing, and withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Residents of other states with privacy laws may have similar rights. Contact us and we'll respond within the time the law requires.

Data retention and security

We keep contact messages only as long as we need them to respond and keep records. We use reasonable safeguards, but no website can promise perfect security.

Children

Cstrck isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
